METALLICA Among 100 Most Powerful Entertainment Figures: FORBES Magazine
June 18, 2004METALLICA are the only hard rock band to make the Forbes magazine's annual list of the 100 most powerful figures in the entertainment world. The San Francisco Bay Area-based group ranked No. 27, thanks to earnings of $35 million and the huge publicity splash surrounding their controversial "St. Anger" release.
Forbes calculated its list by ranking the celebrities on both their salaries as well as the amount of media attention they garnered through TV and radio appearances, magazine covers, newspaper mentions, and hits on the web over the past 12 months.
The ROLLING STONES were the only rock band to make the Top 10, with earnings of $51 million coming primarily from their most recent world tour and "40 Licks" CD.
